How Do Ductless Split Systems Work?
Ductless mini splits work much like a regular central air conditioning unit, but without the ductwork throughout your home.
In a regular split system air conditioner, there is an indoor unit, usually in your attic, and an outdoor unit. Ductwork carries warm air from in your home to the AC unit, where it is cooled and then returned through other ducts back into your home.
In a ductless split system, there are multiple smaller indoor units placed inside the home that are all connected to a single outdoor unit. These smaller units pull warm air from the rooms they are set in and blow cold air back out.
Benefits of Ductless Mini Split Systems
Ductless mini split systems for air conditioning are most beneficial to homes that do not have existing ductwork for a central AC system.
However, they can also be instrumental in homes with central air to improve the comfort levels in rooms that are not connected to the existing ductwork or places that do not cool as evenly are the rest of your home.
Another benefit of ductless split systems is that you can affect the climate of individual rooms.
For example, if you like the master bedroom to be cooler at night, you can change the temperature setting for just that room without paying the electrical cost for cooling the entire home.
Ductless systems can also be very energy efficient, avoiding the potential issues that arise when ductwork is improperly installed or becomes damaged and dirty over time.
Professional Installation for Your Ductless Split System
Any HVAC system, whether central air conditioning or a ductless mini split, must be installed by licensed, experienced professionals to avoid problems.
